The redesigned
2013 Lexus LX 570 starts at $81,805, including an $875 destination charge, reflecting a $1,475 increase over the outgoing model.
The price hike makes the LX 570 $865 more expensive than its closest domestic competitor, the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Platinum model. The 2012 Escalade Platinum starts at $80,940, including a $995 destination charge.
The 2013 Lexus LX 570 goes on sale in early February.
An optional $1,510 luxury package for the LX 570 bundles a cool box for beverages, leather-trimmed upholstery, a heated steering wheel, new mahogany wood-trimmed door switch plates, a rear-center armrest cover, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats for the outboard position only and a Smart Access card key.
A rear-seat entertainment system adds $2,005 to the bottom line.
The 2013 LX 570 gets redesigned front and rear bumpers, an updated headlight and taillight design and wider body-side moldings. It is powered by a 383-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine.

This is the Lexus LF-LC 2+2 sports coupe concept, which debuted at the Detroit auto show. The car’s proportions and profile are as sultry as they appeared to be in earlier teaser images, and we really dig the complex surfaces that dive and flow down the body sides. As for the front, one C/D editor who saw pre-show photos opined that the overly fussy fascia looked like someone chucked a grenade into the front bumper. The mug is no less over-the-top in person, but it is more cohesive and comes across as far less tragic.
The show also gave us a good chance to check out the car’s details, including the vertical dot-matrix fog lamps; the mirrored taillights, which boast a nifty reflective effect; the wavy interior stitching that intersects like blades of grass; the cabin’s small touch-screen control interface (check it out in the photo gallery), and the two 12.3-inch LCD widescreen displays.
Even after the Lexus press conference, we remain in the dark about what exactly powers the low, glass-roofed sports coupe, although we do know that it’s supposed to be a hybrid. The automaker claims that the LF-LC is powered by its next-generation advanced hybrid powertrain, which a Lexus insider explained to us as simply an Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. There were no further details, although the same insider admitted that the concept car rolled onto the stage under the power of an electric motor and a battery pack. He didn’t elaborate on the battery pack’s strength or composition, but we suspect it holds just enough juice to get the car onto a turntable at walking speeds and little more.

The 2011 Lexus RX 450h may be the star attraction of the most popular model in the entire Lexus line. Now in its third generation, the RX mid-size crossover utility vehicle has become the de facto standard for upscale suburban families.

The powertrain, shared with its simpler Toyota Highlander Hybrid sibling, is comprised of a 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to the Hybrid Synergy Drive system. That system uses a pair of electric motor-generators in an electronic continuously variable transmission, meaning that the RX 450h is variously powered by electricity alone (at low speeds under gentle acceleration), the gasoline engine alone, or a combination of the two. The motor-generators variously power the car and recharge the nickel-metal-hydride battery pack located under the rear seat.

Lexus is recalling 2011 RX 350s that were built between August 30, 2010 and May 18, 2011 and have Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM).
The recall is due to an incorrect calibration for the hydraulic control valves. That incorrect calibration means the right front tire might not be controlled properly if the ABS or VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) system is activated. That could result in either a longer stopping distance or the failure to correct a slide.
Lexus will make the fix free of charge, replacing the brake actuator with a new one. To contact the company, owners may do so at 800-331-4331. Dealers are expected to begin making the fixes in August.

Well, that was fast. Just days ago, we got our first glimpse of the next-generation Lexus GS out testing on the Nürburgring, and now, AutoGuide reports that the production car is set to debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California next month. Lexus has yet to confirm this report.
Not surprisingly, the 2012 GS will take many of its styling cues from the Lexus LF-Gh concept that bowed at the 2011 New York Auto Show in April. Even in the spy shots, we could see that the LED running lamps up front were left intact, along with the unique grille shape and arched lower air intake openings.
AutoGuide reports that the car shown in Monterey will likely be a hybrid, though Lexus is expected to also offer conventional gasoline versions of the GS. A high-performance F variant is in the cards, as well.

It's amazing how quickly the Lexus LX570 has aged. When this monster SUV debuted for the 2008 model year, it felt ridiculously fast, very comfortable, and seemed enormous. In 2011, the LX570 feels much older than it should because of the myriad buttons, knobs, and levers to control the various suspension, 4wd, climate control, and audio systems. For the most part the array of controls is explained well with illustrations of each individual switch's function, but the sheer number of things that can be adjusted is a bit intimidating. Land Rover does a much better job of batching the various 4wd settings together with a clear icon to explain the terrain that matches the system's setting. Even Jeep has made this pretty clear with the Grand Cherokee.
The LX570 is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, which has an incredible off-road legacy and is known around the world for its durability. Unfortunately those roots show in places they shouldn't. The Land Cruiser has signature rear seats that fold outboard, so the LX gets them, too. There are six buttons to control the powered movements of the 50/50 split rear seats! Sadly none of these powered movements provide a flat load floor that spans the entire area behind the second row of seats. Lexus should examine an Infiniti QX56 to see how the third row of seats could fold down and forward to create a nearly flat load floor that is much better for loading with cargo.
Even with the firmest damper setting, the LX570 pitches itself into a turn with more body movement than any vehicle should have in 2011. I completely understand the off-road heritage and capability that Lexus offers buyers, but other manufacturers have better on-road ride quality with just as much off-road capability as Lexus has here.
The 5.7-liter V-8 that powers the LX570 has aged much more gracefully than the rest of the vehicle. Power delivery is very good, especially considering the vehicle's considerable curb weight. I found the six-speed automatic to be very agreeable with smooth upshifts and reasonably quick downshifts when I floored the accelerator. I'd like to see a little better fuel economy since the Infiniti QX56 is rated at 14/20 mpg and the Lexus only returns 12/18 mpg, but big SUVs aren't the poster children for fuel economy anyway.

Based heavily on the smaller of Toyota's two world market Land Cruisers, the latest
Lexus GX 460 has arrived to replace the outgoing GX 470. The GX 460 is Lexus' answer for those seeking a luxury SUV that can still truly perform off-road when necessary. Significantly upgraded from its predecessor, including a lower displacement but more powerful V8, the GX 460 slots in above the RX 350 but below the hulking LX 570.
As its name implies, the GX 460 uses a 4.6-liter V8 that puts out 301 horsepower (up from 263) and 329 lb-ft. of torque (up from 323 lb-ft.). The sole V8 is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission and an off road-oriented two-speed four-wheel-drive system.
Fuel economy is up to 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway compared to the outgoing model's rather dismal 14/18.
Although the GX 460 is based on one of the most rugged SUV platforms produced today, its positioning as a Lexus makes it a decidedly luxury-oriented SUV. Standard 18 inch wheels (up from 17 inchers) add to its on-road presence, as do standard illuminated running boards and a Lexus family waterfall-like horizontal grille.
The GX 460 model makes the outgoing GX 470's optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension a standard feature. Designed to make the GX more stable and to handle better, the system offers a trio of suspension modes, as well as height adjustability.
Continuing in the old model's rather surprising off-road ability, the GX 460 features an adjustable transfer case that is activated by flipping a switch (unlike the more traditional mechanical transfer case lever on the outgoing model). Optional crawl control allows drivers to manually select a speed from 1 to 3.7 mph that the vehicle will maintain by automatically applying the brakes.
Optional front and wide-view side cameras are designed to help drivers park the GX in tight spaces but have some use off road, as well, for those few drivers who choose to leave the pavement.

Lexus has just released a limited-edition version of the IS 350C convertible that will go on sale later this month. Called the F Sport Special Edition, the droptop is limited to a scant 175 units, priced from $55,120, not including delivery and processing fees.
To set it apart from other IS 350Cs, the F Sport Special Edition benefits from a few visual tweaks. It rides on 19-inch forged alloy wheels with a dark graphite finish and the only two exterior colors available are Starfire Pearl (pictured) or Obsidian. Whether or not $29,120 – the rumored base price of the 2011 CT 200h (*not including destination, taxes, etc.) – will be enough to get foot traffic in Lexus dealerships remains to be seen.
According to the website The Lexus Enthusiast, this pricing data was mistakenly leaked a day ahead of its planned-for arrival by the official blog for Lexus of Reno, apparently since removed. If true, a tad over $31K out the door ought to nab you a nicely equipped CT with a moonroof and heated seats, and of course there are a slew of available options that include premium audio, navigation, leather seating surfaces and Lexus' Pre-Collision technology.
For what it's worth, assuming these prices are accurate, the 2011 CT 200h will be the least expensive new Lexus sold in America. The base price for the IS series and HS 250h hybrid sedan is several thousand dollars higher. And, perhaps more importantly, the CT looks to be priced about $2,000 less than the 2011 Audi A3 TDI.

The gearbox has a sequential shift feature that enables the driver to manually control the gear selection when desired. The RX 350 is rated at 11.6 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving and 8.2 L/100 km on the highway. In combined driving during my week with the vehicle, I averaged 12.3 L/100 km.

The wheelbase has been lengthened 25 mm, while the overall length of the RX has been stretched 41 mm. It stands 1,720 mm tall, which is about 15 mm less than the previous model, but it's also 40 mm wider, helping create more room inside the five-person cabin.
A couple of other dimensional changes have enhanced the RX's handling characteristics: the track has been widened by nearly 70 mm, while the engine position has been dropped about 15 mm, lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity. The result is less body roll and, combined with the improved suspension, I found it delivered a more comfortable, compliant ride. I also found the new electric steering system to have decent feel and response.

2010 Lexus RX 350. One new innovation for 2010 is the Remote Touch system, a mouse-like controller mounted on the centre console. It fits naturally into your hand and lets you navigate through various systems such as climate control, audio and navigation. I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to high-tech equipment, but this system is so intuitive even I managed to master it.

In the rear of the cabin, the seatbacks of the 60/40-split bench not only recline, the entire seat can be manually adjusted fore and aft to increase passenger comfort or boost the available cargo space. This latest iteration of the RX has been fitted with a double-wishbone rear suspension, which increases the amount of available room in the cargo area. The shock towers of the previous strut-based system intruded into that space somewhat, but this new system has opened up the space between the towers by about 150 mm. The RX350 took over in 2007. Under the hood was a new 3.5L V6 engine which got credit for 270 horsepower and 252 pounds-per-foot of torque. Once again, power was geared to a standard five-speed automatic transmission and the model was made available in both front and all-wheel drive. One-touch windows, dual-zone climate control, ten-way power seats, and a power liftgate were made standard. Additional options such as leather seats, a moonroof, navigation, a DVD entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control could also be had. The RX 350 received a minor update for the 2010 model year. This time, power was direct through a six-speed automatic transmission. However, most of the previous powertrain remained intact, although the engine did get a boost up to 275 horsepower. 18” alloy wheels, remote entry/start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power tilted-telescoping steering wheel were included as standard equipment while leather upholstery, heated/cooled seats, a backup camera, and other such niceties were made available either as options or part of separate packages.
